You do not have to look too far to see that both people, and the world in general, are somewhat damaged at the moment! That we have perhaps lost our way somewhat is illustrated by this quote, attributed to the Dalai Lama:
People were created to be loved, things were created to be used. The reason why the world is in chaos is that things are being loved and people are being used.
My name is Steve Cowley and I run this site to bring together various streams of thought about energy healing. Like many of you reading this I suspect, I would characterise myself as nothing more than a ‘seeker’; someone who has been looking for answers to the mystery of life and death. My personal search is tied up intimately with one particular life event…
In the early 1980’s I met my martial arts instructor, a man who was to have a major effect on pretty much every aspect of my life. His teaching went way beyond ‘this is how you throw a punch or kick’ and cut to the fundamental questions of what it might mean to be human.
One of his first lessons has formed the back drop to my 60 years on this planet. He simply said ‘I will not give you all the answers but I will help you to ask the right questions’.
And question I have, at pretty much every step of the way! My personal search to find answers and develop a level of understanding about ‘life’ has taken me to some interesting places – both physically and spiritually. It has often seemed a bit like trying to grasp mist; just when you think you have a handle on some aspect or another, it slips through your fingers and you are left holding …. nothing!
‘I don’t know’ has become my default response to many of life’s deeper questions. My search may have led to an idea or a feeling about something, but not to a complete ‘systematic theology’ that I could confidently map out and say this is how it is. I believe ‘I don’t know’ is the only honest response to a reality that may actually be far stranger than most of us realise.
And this is all OK too. The process of searching and questioning has merit in and of itself. Einstein once said ‘No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.” To reach that new level we have to expand our thinking beyond the narrow confines of the accepted norm. So, question everything, especially the things you read about on these pages.
In spite of all this uncertainty, I do start from four fundamentals that I consider to be the foundations of my personal ‘philosophy’. The questions I have asked over the years keep bringing me back to these same four things; Love, Compassion, Kindness and Balance.
Love is simply the acceptance that we are all part of the same source. This leads to compassion and kindness towards all life; ultimately, we are all One. Balance and equanimity comes from the understanding that, whatever happens, there is nothing to fear. Just as we come from the same source, we shall all return to source eventually. There really is nothing to be afraid of.
My mission is to share this understanding and help people to recognise that we are all part of this greater whole. By reconnecting to Universal Energy I believe that people can live a healthier, more peaceful and caring life.
On this site you will find information on how I believe this source energy expresses itself through our body, mind and spirit. Ultimately, it is all about Healing with a capital ‘H’. Sometimes, it may not be possible to heal the body but very possible to heal the mind or spirit; this may have been the healing that was really being sought, the healing that was necessary.
Whatever you are seeking, remember that your own intuition is the best judge as to the rightness or wrongness of what is said. If it feels that there may be truth here for you then go with it. If not, then that is OK too. Keep searching and your own answers will come.
Whatever your reasons for being here now, I wish you success in your search.
